FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
SALT LAKE CITY, UT (June 18, 2019) — Biomerics LLC, a leading contract manufacturer in the minimally invasive interventional medical device market, announced the completion of a plant expansion at its Biomerics FutureMatrix Interventional (BFMI) facility in Athens, TX. The facility expansion added 12,700 square feet of new space, including additional cleanroom capacity, offices, labs, machine shop, break room, restrooms, and additional parking.
Travis Sessions, CEO of Biomerics, remarked, “The expansion in Texas is a direct result of the growth of the business. As with other investment projects, this plant expansion demonstrates our commitment to providing our teams with effective and safe work environments, while upgrading capabilities and services for customers. Since BFMI joined the Biomerics family of companies in 2018, we’ve seen remarkable improvements in production, elimination of waste, and operational efficiencies throughout the campus. The plant expansion was a core part of the operational plan and sets up the location for its next round of growth.”
BFMI has been a leader in the development of interventional catheters for the past 26 years, including high-performance PTA balloon catheters. Today, the Athens team continues to expand their balloon technologies into new interventional markets, including GI and ENT dilation catheters.
Todd McFarland, President of the BFMI division, commented, “The additional clean room space enables the streamlining of existing operations and provides over 5,800 sq. ft. of new cleanroom for new products. We also expanded our engineering offices and application development labs to support new product development”. Todd continued, “We are committed to building a sustainable world-class facility for our customers, employees, and community.”
With approximately 490 employees, the Athens location is a vertically integrated design, development, and manufacturing facility with extrusion, injection molding, balloon blowing, reflow, and catheter assembly operations.
